History enthusiasts, this is your chance to make a little history at The Fly.

Exciting Volunteer Opportunity at The Fly Historical Museum!
We’re thrilled to announce a large-scale project that will require the help of dedicated volunteers. As part of our recently renovated museum, we are sorting and displaying our collection of artifacts. Some of these artifacts have known histories, while others will require research to ensure they’re placed in the correct county-era-themed display.
We’re calling on volunteers who can commit a few hours a day, Monday through Friday, to assist with the following tasks:
Research each artifact to uncover its history
Photograph and write up a summary of each artifact’s history
Catalog the items using modern technology
Place artifacts in appropriate display cases or arrange hanging mechanisms
Clean and organize display cases, including painting and wallpapering
Clean and prepare artifacts for relocation within the museum
Reframe portraits, pictures, or newspaper articles related to Bedford County
Our goal is to reopen the museum to the public by May 1st, and your assistance is crucial to meeting this deadline. We ask that volunteers bring their own computers if they’d like to help with research and writing tasks.
What to Expect:
• Volunteers will be assigned tasks based on their physical abilities to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Volunteers can choose how many hours they can contribute, with hours scheduled by the committee based on both the museum's and the volunteers’ availability.
• All volunteers will be working with a supportive team, and the project will be rewarding and educational as we explore and handle historical artifacts.
If you're interested in contributing to this exciting project, please email presidentflyarts@gmail.com or call Jody at 615-476-3274. This volunteer opportunity is a project where all potential volunteers will be hand-selected.
We greatly appreciate your time and help in preparing the museum for its reopening. Let’s come together to make this project a success and enjoy the process!
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you there!
